Autumn Winds

It really looks as though up here in Scotland, Autumn has begun - now it's Woolie Jumper Weather!

Speaking of which, it's been a very busy time knitting-wise at https://scottishknitwearforkidsandgrownups.store - there have been Custom Orders for some super items

Mid August another order came along for a Pure Scottish Aran Wool cardigan in the shade of Autumn - so here is the finished result !

Sales of ready to wear has gone well too1 I sold this Pure Scottish Aran Wool sweater to England and as it was a popular item - It can still be found on https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ScottishKnitwear as a Made to order item - so it would be my pleasure to knit another for you.

         

 This Pure Scottish Aran Hat was sold to the Costume Department of a Theatre in England! 

For children, these two items were sent to Southern Ireland 

 They were very much admired http://www.scottishknitwearforkidsandgrownups.store and also my Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ScottishKnitwear - I've kept them on the websites as Made to Order which can be knitted in a variety of colours and sizes so again - have a wee look 

This little set of hat and mitts were sent all the way to Louisana US for a little person who will look so cute wearing something so unique 

Now - just today I became a winner!!! I am frequently  over at a Facebook website called  Share A Seller UK Crafts - and I won the prize of a wee advert lasting a week - must brag about this so here is the ad

I am so chuffed - absolutely knocked out!!

I recently popped  picture of myself on my Twitter page https://twitter.com/ScotKnitter as I think that if you are selling it lets people see who they are buying from - ummm perhaps not a good idea -  but for anyone who doesn't scare easily - here I am - see what I mean!!!!!

Enjoy the early days of Auumn

No Snow For Me!

As you have probably seen in the weather forecasts, news bulletins and newspapers, many parts of Scotland and England were hit by heavy snowfalls in the early days of February - but not in my part of Scotland! the Scottish Borders haven't as much as a flake of the white stuff falling - actually temperatures reaching 16 degrees centigrade! I sell knitwear.....what do I need these temperatures for in February?????

Moaning about the lack of snow apart, it's not been a bad old month.
Had a few day's away from the daily grind and went sight seeing, had long walks and generally did 'stuff" then work came in by the bucket load and in a short space of time! I am always amazed when I get a roll of customers all at once......then nothing for weeks and weeks - that's life!

One thing I never moan about is that I don't have to commute to work.....I just toddle over to my knitting space...then sit down.
The reason I'm saying this is that I've just come back from a wee car journey and had my beloved Radio 2 playing cheerily away.....then came the Road Report....M25 -lane 7 to lane 10 closed southbound due to accidents and the M6 drivers have lost the will to live.......oh I feel smug!

Knitting wise I finished a Custom Knit  Hoodie for a little chap and it's on it's way to Australia. I popped the photographs on to my Etsy shop scottishknitwearforkidsandgrownups.com so that is you want a Custom Knit in any size from 25" (63.5 cms) to 44" (112 cms) and in your choice of colour just click on the "Request Custom Order" icon on the left hand side my shop page.

Next a couple of Custom orders have appeared in my inbox.
You might remember this blue sweater dress with matching cowl? I did this in 2017 and someone has contacted me and asked for a copy, to be done in a shade of Pure Scottish Aran Wool called Woodland

you'll see a sneak peak - possibly tomorrow -of the work in progress.

Then someone has sent me a pattern of this Vintage Hoodie which they want done in the natural Aran Cream Colour

Once knitted up, this will also go on to my Etsy shop so others can ask for a Custom Knit!

So that's my February in a nutshell.
Speaking of which, time to go out to the patio and sweep up the nutshells and bits of suet balls that I put out for the messy garden birds.

A Chill Wind Blows In Scotland

Hello to you!

I have been busy since last time I posted a blog. Really, have stayed as far away from the cold as possible and did a bit of knitting and I hope you've noticed the new banner at the top of my page and the new logo - if not.....nip back and have a wee look and let me know what you think. Now, I have been busy with children's cosy items. I know Winter is dragging on, but here I think the worst of Winter is yet to come and in parts of Europe and the US - they need snow shovels to get out of the house

A Hand Knitted Pure Scottish Aran Cardigan with Leather Buttons to fasten

Knitted in a Chunky Acrylic Yarn for easy care, this little jacket is worked in a shade of Heather and has  six heart shaped, ice chip buttons to fasten. The little hat has two pom pom's and If I have to say so myself will look so warm, smart and fashionable on a little girl aged 2 - 3 years

Another Hand Knitted Chunky Jacket for a little lad aged 4 - 5 years. Cobalt Blue With 6 buttons to fasten and buttons on wrist bands and on lower edge of jacket for a smart look

Two ways to wear this warm bright and very versatile cowl - wear it around the shoulders to look good with a jumper - wear it under your coat or wrap it over your head on a cold day. Worked using three strands of double knitting yarn twisted together - knitted in raspberry, light green and gold

Lastly, a hand knitted jacket with hood and two pockets and a Cable Knit design - all to fit age 4 - 5 years

Last Blog Of The Year!

Well Hello!

It's nearly the end of the year and I thought I'd pop in to say hello!
You will be pleased to hear this is not a big blog this evening - it's the season of goodwill and I have a lot of goodwill to a glass of white wine that is at my elbow awaiting me finishing this!

Exciting news this time though - I now have my own website

I had a very busy time leading up to Christmas - so many Custom Knits were ordered for Christmas  - it really was the year of the Custom Knit - these orders came from my Etsy site at scottishknitwearforkidsandgrownups.com

I also started selling on Folksy - another site address coming up here (sorry)

Now you may say with these two places to sell from, why does she need another personal website?
You see, I realised not everyone is on Etsy or Folksy - some people just enjoy looking at websites without having to join a group or check in as a guest so.......that's my excuse for having another site!

A selection of hand knitted hats in either pure wool or Chunky Yarn - all with very intricate designs and very individual.

April In Winter!

Hello! I want to say Spring has sprung, but Scotland is suffering from an overdose of snow......won't complain as it's good for business!

Since we last chatted in March, my sales have been not bad from both my Etsy shop and from Custom Orders.
Knitting wise.....well here is the selection of items done during March!

This is the side view of a ladies wrap in Pure Scottish Aran Wool - a great alternative to a jacket in Spring and cooler Summer Days - you'll see more pictures of this on

Next I did a woman's slouch hat - this is worked in Scottish Double Knitting Wool in an Autumn shade and can also be found on Etsy

An Infinity Scarf comes next also in 100% Pure Aran Wool from Scotland 

Now for the Small Humans! A wee baby cardigan in brushed yarn which is sooo soft. Now for a little surprise - this cardigan comes with a free baby bonnet  - same colour but in a slightly different pattern - see my Etsy shop for details of such a bargain!

Now these are rather special! Arm Warmers based on an 18th Century design. The yarn for these was sourced by me here in Scotland...the sheep was raised here - it's wool dyed here and spun here - a very authentic looking pair of Arm Warmers

What Sandra Did!

Hello and how have you been? Hopefully winter is now over - had enough now....take it away please!!

A quick update to let you see the latest makes - mostly for little people this month

This little handknitted cardigan fits a baby girl 6 - 9 months and is in a shade of Raspberry/Purple with a subtly coloured yoke, rib bands and wrist bands.

A little Lavender and white cardigan, handknitted  again for a baby girl. The white buttonhole and button band is knitted in white to show off the lavender heart shaped buttons. The lace design is on the back and both fronts

Lastly another baby girl matinee jacket. cardigan for 6 - 9 months with lacy design front, back and above wrist bands - 6 matching buttons make this a super wee gift

This hoodie is handknitted to fit age 2 - 3 years. The two toggle buttons open the front for easy putting on and pulling off - knitted in a soft Aran wool

Lastly - hand knitted beanie hat knitted using Peruvian Highland Wool - fits head circumference 22-24"

What the Lady Did!

Hello! Nearly the end of February and have I been busy from the beginning of the month right up to today!

One of the things I like about knitting is that I can do so many different things and although they are all knitted - I can get so many different looks.

So here we go:

This jumper was a custom knit for a lady who has ordered from me before via my Facebook page

This little cardigan has been knitted to fit a baby girl aged 6 - 9 months and looks so warm and comfortable! I chose these colours as I don't see any reason as to why babies have to be dressed up in blue and pink only! Here is a Pure Scottish Aran wool Cardigan with a stand up collar, wooden toggle buttons and a traditional design which looks great with the modern cardigan.

Now lastly, for those who have been following me (you mean you haven't!!) you'll know that I have knitted for Outlander so here is a latest make

This Scottish shawl is knitted in the yarn as close to 18th century yarn as can be found.
The wrist warmers are cosy and practical as was all working clothes in the 18th century
