A QUICK CATCH UP

Hello! I can't believe I haven't written a blog since 2019! Did you miss me??? Ummm let's leave that question for now.

With the lockdowns of 2020 and shops being closed, like most online sellers, I had a bumper year of knitting sales - I actually had to "persuade" my sisters to help me with orders - well perhaps persuade is not the word but I'm sure they enjoyed helping me!

2021 has followed a more normal pattern - busy in January and February but  now trailing off during late spring and will be so in to summer then - hopefully- picking up in early autumn.

My orders just now are from shops who are ordering Shetland Wool sweaters for their winter stock.

On my website - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/scottishknitwear you'll see that I have added a great selection of
ready to wear children's hand knitted Jumpers and Cardigans - worked in either a blend of wool with acrylic or less expensive all acrylic hand knits with cable patterns - here are one or two to for your perusal

This little beauty fits age 2 - 3 years - and is in the cosy shade of Raspberry Pink

Again, age 2 - 3 years in Teal Blue with two deep pockets to keep precious "stuff" in!

For pretty princesses, this peach coloured hooded jacket fits 18 months to 2 years and will be so much admired.

The menfolk haven't been forgotten about either - jumpers and cardigans made to order in a wide variety of colours and knitted to your size requirements

You can see Scottish Knitwear For Kids And Grownups  also on

Better Late Than Never!

I'm starting with an apology! This is my August Blog.....in September.....but I've been busy....honestly I have!!

Actually, August has been a time for Custom Knits which are always welcome!

The first one to come along was this wrap, knitted in Pure Scottish Aran Wool in a shade called Heather which was sent to South Australia

This was fast followed by a gentleman in London who wanted a sweater with a polo neck still in Pure Aran Wool in a Natural Shade - that is still a work in progress so I'll post a picture of it in my next blog. Next is a chap who wants a Custom Knit of this cardigan
but in a different size. Thought that might be the end of it but another message arrived for a Custom knit for this Baby Cardigan and Matching Hat - the original of this is in my Etsy shop on https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ScottishKnitwear - if you also want a Custom Knit!
Another Custom Knit Request arrived for this little hoodie but in Beige which is still a work in progress but will post the finished item once I have it modelled.

Needless to say, I have taken on two Production Partners to help me with the work as Scottish Knitwear, I hope, is on the ascent!

As long as I'm chatting, can I show you some Christmas items that are in my Etsy shop just now for children (I know, I know - the "C" word has been spoken!)
This has been knitted to fit a child aged 2 - 3 years but can be Custom Knit to fit any age or size - even an adult!

Hand Knitted for a baby but can also be done in other sizes.....then lastly.........
A little
threesome - again for a baby but can be knitted to the size (or colour) you want.

Now this is a beauty - a Hand Knitted Beanie Hat in Pure Scottish Aran Wool in Red - warmth on the coldest of days!

Phew - ow can you understand why I'm late this month in posting my blog? Oh oh, nearly forgot - I did an interview in August for this article on Craft people!!
Now I do believe I need to go lie down after all this creativity!!
I don't know if I mentioned to you before, but I also have a shop on

It's a new selling sight -and very early days and still finding it's feet but take a look at the site and give it a boost - from little acorns etc.,

Will be back at some point to let you see the latest makes but, if you want a Custom Knit please order early for Christmas - business in the knitwear section hots up in the cold weather - so don't be left out in the cold!

And Then There was June

Hello! Hope all is well in your world?

Since I saw you last, have been very, very busy - honestly I have! Never had a moment off from the knitting needles - well yes, I did exagerate there a bit.

So - following on from May's blog, two custom knits were completed and here they are

Both these sweaters went off to the USA - and as the red one proved so popular, a second one will be knitted for my Etsy shop  at https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ScottishKnitwear

This Cable Knit Chunky Wool, cable design hat and infinity scarf can be worn with the decorative band on the front of the scarf or without for a looser fit. - You can find these in my Etsy shop too!

How about two different shawls/scarves for the girls?

I say -  wow!! This shawl is hand knitted in a Merino/Nylon mix and will definitely be an accessory to wear to impress. The geometric design is  modern and sassy!

A Lace and Stripe design Shawl/Scarf - a good colour to blend in with many other items in your wardrobe - you'll also find these two shawls in my Etsy shop.

Might I say at this point, that all my models are friends, family or someone who was unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place when I needed a model!!
They are real people like you!

Pop along to https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ScottishKnitwear - see the items in detail and hopefully, you'll love them as much as I do x

Thoughts........

When I should be doing the knitting I'm on, I'm usually  thinking about my next project!

Silly really as I really should be concentrating on the project I'm working on then I wouldn't have to re-do bits!!

I working on a ladies sweater just now but have ordered yarn for a man's jumper and I don't even have a  pattern in my head for the aforementioned jumper!

Anyway, here in Scotland during the later part of May and the early part of June, I've been able to sit outside in the garden to knit. I did a man's pure wool Aran in Navy which is in my Etsy shop on https://www.etsy.com/shop/ScottishKnitwear?=hdr_shop_menu and here is a picture of the sweater worn by model Gordon

Then I went on to knit a custom knit baby blanket in powder blue and white for a baby not yet born
- how cute is this!

The original baby blanket that this is based on is also in my Etsy shop and knitted in all white.

(Did I say I do custom knits??)

That's really all I've done since last month, but I had a wee holiday in the south of the UK and visited my grandaughters so.....as I adore them, here are a couple of pics!

Ruby Ellen Rose who was 1 year old on 5th June chewing on a hairbrush as toothy pegs bothering her!

Grandaughter, Alexandra - note the missing bottom tooth!!

Take care of yourselves until next time!
